Brick Breaker
About Brick Breaker
Brick Breaker is a free online paddle-and-ball game in the style of the arcade classics. A wall of bright bricks sits at the top of the screen and a single ball is all you have to knock it down. Move your paddle along the bottom, keep the ball in play and break every brick to move on to the next level. Let the ball slip past you three times and the game is over.
Each new level adds an extra row of bricks, speeds the ball up a little and shrinks your paddle slightly. From level two onwards some bricks need two hits, shown by a white stripe across the top, and from level three gaps start appearing in the wall that change the way the ball bounces around. It is easy to learn, but staying alive on the later stages takes real control.
How to Play Brick Breaker
- Press Play, then tap the board or press Space to launch the ball.
- Move the paddle with your mouse, by dragging your finger, or with the arrow keys / A and D.
- Bounce the ball into the bricks. Each one you break scores points.
- Clear every brick to finish the level and earn a 100-point bonus.
- You have three lives. Missing the ball costs one.
Tips and Strategy for Brick Breaker
Where the ball hits your paddle decides where it goes next. A hit in the centre sends it almost straight up, while a hit near either end sends it off at a sharp angle. Use the edges of the paddle on purpose to aim at the last few stubborn bricks instead of waiting for a lucky bounce. Steep angles are also the best way to get the ball up and behind the wall, where it can bounce around and clear several bricks on its own.
Try to keep your paddle roughly under the ball at all times instead of making last-second lunges. On later levels the ball moves quickly, and a calm, centred position gives you more time to react. If you are using a mouse, small hand movements are more accurate than big sweeps.
