Drag Duel is a free online drag racing game where timing is everything. Two cars line up side by side on a 400-metre strip. When the start lights turn green you launch, and from then on it is all about shifting gears at exactly the right moment. Get every shift right and you will fly past your rival. Get them wrong and you will watch their tail lights disappear.

The rev counter in the corner shows your engine speed. A green zone near the top marks the perfect moment to change gear, with a yellow “good” zone just before it and a red limiter after it. Perfect shifts are lightning-fast and keep the power flowing, while early shifts bog the engine down and late shifts leave you bouncing off the limiter. Beat your rival and the next one will be quicker, react faster and shift better.

How to Play Drag Duel

• Press Race. Three red lights come on one by one.
• When the lights turn green, press Space, tap the screen or hit the big LAUNCH / SHIFT button.
• Press too early and you jump the start, which costs you a time penalty.
• Watch the rev counter and press again to shift up when the needle reaches the green zone.
• There are six gears. Keep shifting until you cross the 400 m finish line.
• Win to face a faster rival in the next race.

Tips and Strategy for Drag Duel

The launch can win or lose the race. A reaction under a quarter of a second earns a “great launch” boost that gets the car off the line faster. Watch the last red light closely and press the instant it turns green, but never before, because a false start is much worse than a slightly slow one.

Learn the rhythm of the shifts. The first gears rev up quickly, so the shifts come fast, and the higher gears take longer to reach the green zone. Rather than staring at the needle, many players learn the timing by feel after a few races. If you are unsure, shifting a fraction late in the green zone is better than shifting early in the yellow one.
