About Block Fit

Block Fit is a free online block puzzle that is simple to learn and very hard to put down. You get an empty 8×8 board and three blocks at a time in the tray below it. Drag each block onto the board wherever it fits. When a whole row or a whole column is filled, it clears away and gives you room to keep going. The game only ends when none of the blocks in your tray can fit anywhere on the board.

There are no timers and no falling pieces, so you can think about every move for as long as you like. The challenge comes from the shapes themselves. Long five-square bars, big 3×3 squares and awkward L shapes all turn up at random, and a board that looks fine one moment can fill up quickly if you are not planning ahead. Clearing several lines at once, or clearing lines on back-to-back moves, earns big combo bonuses.

How to Play Block Fit

• Press Play. Three blocks appear in the tray under the board.
• Drag a block with your mouse or finger and drop it onto the board.
• A see-through preview shows exactly where the block will land, and lines that will clear light up.
• Fill a complete row or column to clear it and score bonus points.
• When all three blocks are used, a new set of three appears.
• Blocks that no longer fit anywhere turn grey. When all of them are grey, the game is over.

Tips and Strategy for Block Fit

Always keep space for the biggest pieces. The 3×3 square and the five-long bars are the ones that end most games, so try to keep at least one open 3×3 area and one clear row or column on the board at all times. If you fill the middle of the board early, you will soon have nowhere to put them.

Think about all three blocks in your tray before placing the first one. Sometimes the order matters: putting a small piece down first can block the only spot where a large piece would fit. It is also worth building towards several lines at once. Clearing two or three lines with a single block scores far more than clearing them one at a time, and keeping a combo going adds even more.
