Pattern Recall
About Pattern Recall
Pattern Recall is a free online visual memory game that tests how much you can remember at a glance. A few tiles on the grid light up for a moment and then go dark again. Your task is to tap exactly those tiles from memory. Get them all and you move up a level, where there are more tiles to remember and, every few levels, a bigger grid to remember them on.
The game starts gently, with three tiles on a 3×3 grid, and builds up to large 6×6 boards with a dozen or more tiles to recall. You can make up to two wrong taps in a round and still finish it, but a third mistake ends the round and costs one of your three lives. Perfect rounds with no mistakes earn bonus points, so accuracy pays off as much as memory.
How to Play Pattern Recall
- Press Play and watch the grid closely.
- Some tiles light up for a short time, then turn off.
- Tap or click every tile that was lit, in any order.
- Correct tiles glow green. Wrong tiles turn red.
- Three wrong taps in one round lose a life, and the game shows you the pattern you missed.
- Lose all three lives and the game is over.
Tips to Improve Your Memory Score
Don’t try to remember each tile on its own. Your brain is much better at remembering shapes, so look for the picture the lit tiles make: a line, a corner, a zigzag or a letter. Five tiles are hard to remember one by one, but “an L shape in the top left plus one in the middle” is easy.
On bigger grids, split the board into halves or quarters in your head and remember what is in each part. Take your time when tapping. There is no timer once the tiles go dark, so a calm, careful answer will beat a fast guess every time. If you are not sure about the last tile, think back to the shape before you tap.

FAQ
Does the order I tap the tiles matter?
No. You can tap the tiles in any order. Only which tiles you choose matters.
Is there a time limit for answering?
No. The tiles are only shown for a short time, but once they go dark you can take as long as you need.
What is a good score?
Reaching level 10 means you are remembering a dozen tiles on a 6×6 grid, which is a great result.
